Olimpic Sails’ decision to design and produce sails for the Star class was taken when Luca Devoti, who was sailing in Stars with Diego Negri, asked us to embark on this new adventure. Umberto Righi, sailmaker for Torben Grael during the gold medal won at Atlanta in 1996 and Athens in 2004, worked in collaboration with Olimpic’s designers to produce a set of top-quality sails that were given to Torben Grael for testing.

After the first positive impressions, Grael and Ferreira decided to explore them further and opted to use these sails during the South American Star Championship 2010, an excellent test bench constituting a preview for the 2010 World Championships.

Winning third place was an extraordinary result that convinced many sailors racing on the Italian national circuit and on the international circuits to choose our sails.
